Yusup Razikov

Yusup Razikov Uzbek filmmaker. Born June 5, 1957 in the village of Beruni. Razikov graduated from the script writing faculty of the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in 1986 . “On one hand, I listen to life, to the beating of its heart, to its rhythms but sometimes I try to go beyond the frames of a certain genre, to remove something that only remotely reminds us of problems and everyday life. I always try to show, if you will, a fairy tale and I think life becomes brighter and more entertaining. The film Under the Black Cat Mask was based on real events that took place in 1942 in military Tashkent where evacuees were arriving. All representatives of the Soviet criminal world appeared in Tashkent including both Rostov-’dad’ and Odessa-’mom’.It was a very intense time. This movie was my best education. I can not name a picture that for me, in terms of the importance of its feeling and confession, could stand next to Gastarbeiter. The main theme is the huge injustice that has affected the elderly. This is a story about losses that we have not yet realized.” Over the span of his career Razikov has directed more than 20 films and TV series.
