Darejan Omirbaev

Kazakh filmmaker, winner of the Cannes Film Festival. Born March 15, 1958 in the village of Uyuk. Omirbaev graduated from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics in 1980, . He began his career as a programmer, but by 1987 he had gone on to graduate from the cinematography department of Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. Omirbayev is loyal to himself and to his work. He never falters and always stubbornly sticks to his plan, avoiding working on commercial or social films. It is impossible to entice him with a festival or audience success. In his films, evil is a matter of accident; it appears spontaneously. Evil is not an innate characteristic of human nature. His trilogy Cardiogram, Kairat and Killer is autobiographical in the sense that this is a biography of his language, speech, and maturity. Darejan Omirbaev believes that there is nothing more interesting in the world than watching the development of the language of cinema and this is the ultimate goal.
